Two Great Conferences on Open Adoption.......... AND What makes these such great conferences? Simply speaking it is an atmosphere where people are challenged and new ideas are generated. It is a conference where attendees and the faculty come away knowing they have learned something. The Faculty L. Anne Babb, Ph.D. is the author of Ethics in American Adoption. She has the heart of a philosopher and the mind of a researcher, a combination that makes her work both captivating and thorough. Carol Demuth LMSW-ACP, the author of Courageous Blessings, works in post adoption services at Buckner Maternity and Adoption in Dallas, Texas. Her work reflects ther person she is, compassionate and compelling. Melissa Dodson, MSW, supervises pregnancy counseling services at The Kinship Center in Santa Ana, California. Jim Gritter MSW, the author of The Spirit of Open Adoption and Lifegiver's is a deep thinker with a down-to-earth Midwestern style. He has also been a pioneer in open adoption practice for the past 21 years. Joyce Maguire Pavao Ed.D., the founder of The Center of Family Connections and the author of The Family of Adoption uses stories to illustrate her highly respected theories of adoption and development. Ruth McRoy Ph.D. is the co-author of Openness in Adoption, a book based on a cooperative, longitudinal study with Harold Grotevant. She is also an Associate Dean in the School of Social Work at The University of Texas at Austin. Brenda Romanchik B.A. is the author of a number of books on open adoption. She is the director of Insight: Open Adoption Resources and Support. Sharon Roszia MS is the co-author of The Open Adoption Experience and has worked in the open adoption field for over twenty years. All her work is touched by her generous spirit and her keen mind. Sarah Vanderhaagen B.A. serves on the board of Insight: Open Adoption Resources and Support. She is also an adopted adult who has been in an open adoption since birth.
